Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar is an American and British sitarist. She was the first woman of her generation to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising singer on Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She's the daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Her childhood was spent bouncing back and forth from London and New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her first performance on stage in New Delhi. In the following years, in Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an amazing career in recording and performing. She has been performing with her father on stage for many years. In 1998, she debuted her debut self-titled album Anourag. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated album Live in Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She has performed in a variety of important venues across the globe. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not restricted to just music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biography she penned in 2002. The book pays tribute to her father who died in the year 2000. Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star and her career will keep on growing. Anoushka lived a long her time in London and Delhi in her early years. Later, she moved to California to finish high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and performed on the sitar in celebration of the 75th anniversary the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling the world along with her father. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest and only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her artistry and musicianship as a leading musician of in the Asian Arts.
